Dubstep Power Pack featuring Trowa & Arkasia

Here we go with another combo post. I'm just getting too much GOLD to be postin one at a time... Hope y'all don't mind hehe

Divin into it... Let's go!
Trowa

This dirty duo outta L.A. - made up of Metaphase (left) and Philthy B. (right) - just entered the scene last year, and have been droppin bombs ever since. Came up on this track a day or so ago, and it just had me head-bobbin n tomahawkin like there was no tomorrow.

I will definitely be keepin up with these guys to see what else they can come up with, but most of all, to get the full version of this track, cuz I NEED IT. From the heavy acid crunk feel to that nasty, consistent ring to the just overall amazing sampling, these boys brought it. Well done.

Apparently, they got some tracks in the works that will be released under Steve Aoki's label, Dim Mak, as well as Heavy Artillery and Teenage Riot. I would suggest following all 3 of those labels, not only to be served new tracks by this duo, but anyone they represent, cuz they all bring that nasty nasty.

As always, make sure to keep up with these two on their Soundcloud - oh, and don't forget the click the track below to be routed to your free download. No matter how short it is, it is no doubt a must-have. I might just put it on repeat and pretend it's a full track haha

Hope you enjoyed the slammer above! I will end this part of the post with their latest EP off of Play Me Records. It'll have you wantin more from these badboys - just like I am.. Right now.

Arkasia

Moving right along to this next tune. Arkasia has been deep in the music scene for basically his whole life. Dabblin in many instruments through his youth, starting bands and such, yet only recently, has he jumped onto the dubstep slash DJing scene last year, and I am very glad he did, cuz this guy definitely brings the bangers.

This track has quite the delightful progression. The first thing I noticed, aside from the sick n erie sample about aliens and the great synth additions, was the chord progression in his basslines, as well as the intricacies within them. The wobbles, the key changes, the pads n synths - all come together to create this truly epic track.

HE just release his "Fall of the Republic - EP" on Heavy Artillery Records about 7 months ago, and it's filled with more like the above - groovin tunes, thick basslines, and great vocal samples, so if ya like the above (which I don't see how you could not), then check the EP below, and cop that iiish! I definitely will be, ferrr suure.

Stay up with this Parisian dubber on his Soundcloud, Facebook, and the like, so his new stuff will basically just fall into your lap, and boom.. more bangers for you!

Until next time... And may the Bass be with you, always.

Gettin' Intergalactic with Psymbionic

Here we are, yet another fine track from the Dubstep.net family (Facebook link). Although they flood my Soundcloud stream and email with tons of tracks, it has been fully worth it, no question. Not only introducing new tunes, but also, new DJs, like Austin(TX)'s Psymbionic.

His new track, fresh off the comp and released under Made in Glitch, is sucha heavy hitter! The wobbles, the rhythms - it just all comes together soo well, aaand, it's a supreme remix, executed flawlessly!

That's right, the good ol' Beastie Boys like you've never heard em before. Ironically enough, while I was at SnowGlobe, I heard Bassnectar drop a remix of "Intergalactic" to open up his set, and it was nasty - he got the whole crowd up and goin' crazy in a matter of seconds. Heavy, heavy bass and alotta energy; a great way to kick off his 2hr set. I mean, Bassnectar is known for his quality and unique remixes - definitely my favorite element of his style - but, I must say, this remix clowns on it.

I've noticed that alotta remixes tend to only sample the chorus or a snippet of the original, or, if they include most of the vocals, the music behind it is primarily simplified, but not this track! Of course, there are other artists out there that execute the same quality with success, but there seems to still be a struggle with adding a hefty wobble or driving beat with consistent vocals over it. Not here, Psymbionic mixes every element with great finesse, and after givin' a listen to his other tracks, it is apparent that this was no fluke.

Can't wait to drop this crafty remix in one of my sets...

Be sure to check out this Texan's SoundCloud, Facebook, and all that - show your love and support.

Speakin' of that, make sure to check this post out on the SOL Republic's Culture Blog. It's official, I am fully writing for them now! And, we are also getting a weekly feature on the East Bay Express website! So, you can see this post, and more to follow, there as well, in the Ear Bud column of their blog.

Before I go, I included some mixes below for your enjoyment. Au Revior, for now.

Krewella is Officially "Killin It"

Whaat?! Hotties and Dubstep??? Say no more, I'm hooked already. But, aside from the aesthetic beauty, the also briiiiing it! My buddy and fellow blogger, Gabe, introduced me to this dirty trio about a month or so ago, and their releases just keep getting better n better!

This Chicago trio has been tearin it up and makin quite the name for themselves in the scene. Krewella, composed of "Rain Man" and sisters Jahan & Yasmine, produce a very bass heavy sound with melodic vocal lines mixed on top - done by none other than the ladies themselves. With a motto like "Makin you wet... One song at a time", how can you not expect some serious dirty to come of it, and that's exactly what they provide.

Their newest release, "Killin It", keeps consistent with their previous tunes - phat bass wobbles and angelic voices to carry it along. They may have started with some more Electro-style tracks, but their more recent venture into the 'Step has been a great move for them, and you can hear it here - along with their last release, "One Minute". Listen for ya selves, and you be the judge...

To get this track on free download, just click 'Buy' on the top right, and then,  follow the link to your new goodie :)

They have to be doing something right, aside from the sound they've found, and the free downloads they've been dishin out to their ever-grownin fanbase - they we're recently featured on a track with Skrillex, so you know they've been turnin some serious bassheads.

I can't wait to see what they put out next. Definitely another page I had to 'follow' on SoundCloud, no doubt. Hopefully, we'll be seeing much more from then, and soon.

Until then, here's the track with Skrillex - Let "Breathe" pollute your ears, while these Krewellans sing you to sleep... Or force you to rage!

Great weekends to all! I'm headin to Aoki & Datsik tomorrow night for their DeadMeat Tour, and a lil soiree for the Niners game on Sunday, but should be back on here soon enough for more postings.

Until next time...

Datsik Brings SF Some DeadMeat

If you listen to dubstep, you've undoubtedly heard the bass infected sounds of Datsik. Today, he hits the road with Steve Aoki on Dim Mak's DEADMEAT North American tour, powered by SOL Republic headphones. They'll be making nearly 50 stops across the U.S. and his home country of Canada in less than 2 months - I guess catching up on his sleep wasn't part of his New Year's resolutions.

Speaking of New Years, I had the pleasure of catching the Datsik bug again on the second (and best) day of South Lake Tahoe's inaugural SnowGlobe music festival. Here's a track he put together with the headliner of December 30th, Bassnectar:

Don't get me wrong, I've been listening to Datsik since I first started appreciating the new sound of dubstep mid 2009, but I have to admit I haven't been paying much attention to him since late 2010. My ears literally got tired of the near-blood-spewing sounds of Rottun Recordings' artists at the time. That is why I am so excited to share this with you - one of Datsik's latest releases, with the collab from Subvert, on non other than Rottun Recordings. Drumstep tempo combined with that contagious bass line and unmistakable Datsik sound make this track a virulent must listen. PLEASE DROP THIS ON YOUR SATURDAY STOP IN SAN FRANCISCO!

Warning:
Careful with that bassface, I heard if you don't stop, your face will get stuck like that:

A Blast From the Past with FINISH HIM!

Came across this DJ, again, on SoundCloud (of course!), and after laughing at the memories his name brought back from the good ol' days of Mortal Kombat, I thought to myself, "With a name like Finish Him!, I sure hope he brings the dirty." Ohhh boy, did he NOT let me down!

After checkin out his other tracks, it is clear that he has developed a signature wobble which strings throughout his various songs -  and it's nasty!

After diggin a little deeper, I found some aesthetic gold that displays a novelty in this DJ's performance.

Yes... A full on Scorpion costume! And, it doesn't seem to be a one time thing. I found photos from a bunch of different gigs, all with him rockin that yellow outfit. Not only that, but I came up on some pix of him DJing completely through Playstations!!! Sure, we've all seen artists wear masks, costumes, etc - Deadmau5, Nebakaneza, and many more - but spinnin off a Playstation?! Now, that's just badass.

This Moskow-born dubber has released tracks on Bonerizing Records, Top Billin Records, and Bombeatz Inc. and gigged with some notorious DJs, such as Borgore, Trolley Snatcha, Emalkay, and more.

Pulling only 616 likes on FB to date... I sense another up-n-comer in our midst!

Here's a few tracks that he released only a couple months ago on Bombeats Inc, and just like the track above, they are oozing with heavy bass, great breakdowns and all around bomb beats!

Listen, love, and 'like'... See you next time, Bassheads.

Check this post out on SOL Republic's website in their Culture Blog, and of course their others - I'll be officially writing for them very soon! Also, buy their headphones.. Cuz they're siiiiiick! : )

A Taste of Shade K's Scrumptious "Burger"

BREAKS ALERT!!!

As I've been getting deeper and deeper into the SoundCloud world, I have been coming up on all sorts of new goodies. From DJs to record labels to fellow bloggers, the options are endless, and the sounds keep coming! In the recent, I've been gettin deeep into the Cloud, and I think I'm in love.

Guess I just never realized how valuable this network could be, but now, I am taking full advantage.

To break it down, it's all about who you follow - the more buttons you turn blue, the more content is placed at your feet. If that went over your head, then try this, the more people you follow, the more songs you will receive in your stream.

The point I'm making is the larger the network you create, the greater the opportunity you have to find new tunes.

Even with all the artist I started following, I came across Shade K from one of my followers. It was actually the record label that he releases his tracks under, Music Dark Records. Both based out of Spain, and both bring us some serious nasty - heavy oscillation, hefty sampling and high energy - would not recommend this for the feint of hearts out there.

Hope you like as much as I do.

Jumpshot from Downtown... And It's Gooood!

Ever since I started following Dubstep.net on SoundCloud, I have been flooded with great tunes on a daily basis! Not every single one of them noteworthy for my tastes, but I can pretty much expect at least  one great track per day, and most are from artists I have yet to discover, like Jumpshot.

As you can hear, Immortality is one of those bomb daily doses I mentioned above. This very synth heavy banger definitely gives me hope for the genre. Don't get me wrong, I've been behind the 'Step ever since I first had my mind blown a few years ago, but in the recent, it seems that people might be losing faith. Sure, Skrillex received 5 Grammy nominations, which is a true breakthrough in the recognition of Dubstep as a popular genre amongst it's competitiors. BUT, it has definitely raised a large-scale debate about the genre's evolution.

Has it sold out? Hit it's creative ceiling?... yada yada yada.

I have watched Dubstep transition into the heavy-hittin, energy-infused, bass-crazy sound that it currently embodies, and I love it. I do wonder where it can go from here, and sometimes doubt the sustainability, yet, I am really excited to see what happens next!

I simply try not to get caught up in all that hype, and just enjoy this great ride. I love Dubstep, I am stoked for Skrillex and his success, and as long as tunes like this one keep gettin pumped out by artists, new or old, then I got faith. Hopefully, you're right there with me.

Keep up with this dirty New York dubber on his SoundCloud and such as he makes his comeback into the new scene. If you want more, check out "The Raw Cut - EP" released in May under Synth City Records. Here's a clip for your enjoyment... He's got plenty of other goodies on his SoundCloud, so make the move.

I have a feeling, if he keeps on this tip, his 452 likes on Facebook will be jumpin up real soon.

Oh, and BTdub, this commemorates my first post on SOL Republic's Culture Blog... Check it there, by clicking here ; )

Holy Ship: An Epic Voyage

This was an epic journey. My homie at Magnetic Mag describes it perfectly:

"The idea is surreal, a 4-day cruise down to the Bahamas with 30+ DJs and artists including a stop in Lucaya Bahamas and a party on a private island with Fatboy Slim at the helm. The boat is more or less nonstop action except for a small window of respite during the morning and early afternoon. With some kitschy fun on the side like DJ lessons with A-Trak, a poker tournament with Steve Aoki, Yoga with Gina Turner or mini golf with Dillon Francis." Check out the rest of the article.

By the way, it was me who was the one who got shaken down by those dumb drug dogs. Made me take literally everything out of my bag to find i had nothing on me. God I hate cops on a power trip

Nicky Romero Has Got Nothing "Toulouse"

Ahh, it's soo nice to be back and writing again.. Quite the exciting and eventful weekend of adventures in Tahoe for Snow Globe... I guess it just took me a while to readjust to normal life haha  Definitely got a bunch of great footage, so that will (hopefully) be up soon enough. Along with an interview from DJ R/D, who just dropped his new album, BayCrush! So, until we put him up here, check his facebook.

Soon enough, we will be featuring some coverage of Holy Ship, which Gabe is at RIGHT NOW (Lucky lucky bastaaad!)

Now, back to the task at hand...

I was kickin it with my buddy, Beast, who will be writing for us soon enough, and he put on the new Tiesto Club Life mix; he's big into downloadin podcasts n such, especially Club Life (facebook).

I love me some good mixes, but honestly, I'm not that big into Tiesto. Don't get me wrong, he's the bizness, the man has been tearin it up for years, but he usually doesn't bring that sound my ears love to, well, 'gasm to

BUT, ever so often, he'll drop a track like Nicky Romero's "Toulouse" or Porter Robinson's "Unison", and at those drops, I realize that tons of gold lies within his epic trance mixes, and that I need to pull it together and start keepin up on Club Life a bit more; and so, I shall.

According to the bio for Nicky Romero on Last.fm, he has been all about music since he was a lil one.

Starting with the drums at age 12, he practiced rigorously for a few years, then switched it over to the tables, and for very good reasons. He, then, built his label, Once Records, put out a few tracks, and was later recognized by fellow Dutchman, Madskillz, which got the ball rollin for the young up n' comer. (Source: Last.fm)

At 23, he has makin quite the name for himself doing some heavy remixes and puttin out some proper originals, like the one above, of course.

Check out his quite nifty website here and be sure to stay up to date with this bad boy on his SoundCloud, which features a hefty assortment of his tracks. Not many on free download, but they're definitely worth the listen.

I'll leave you with his most recent release, his "The Yearmix 2011", which features "Toulouse" at about the 48th minute, but I wouldn't suggest skippin past the rest by any means.

Until next time...

A-Track at Madison Square Garden

A-Track is by far one of the most badass DJs with some serious street cred. Fuck CD DJs, he goes straight raw Vinyl and Serato. Take a look at this crowd. In my opinion this is a milestone for A-Track, playing at MSG is no joke. Well I'm off to Holy Ship right now, about to embark on an insanely sick journey. I'll get you some A-Track pics, but for now check out his epic Madison Square Garden video.

Live Cover of Skrillex - First of the Year

Just found this video while browsing on YouTube. Pretty sick. In the video it's Dean DiMarzio playing a cover to Skrillex - First Of The Year. He actually records himself live on bass, drums, guitar, keys and vox. The bass gives him that super dubstep Skrillex growl, hes got some effect on it (one of those on board effects you have in your pedal that you think you'll never use).  Take a sec watch the vid, hope you enjoy. Oh yea and Happy New Year!
