Christmas Eve with Nero at Shangri-LA Hotel

So as I sit on this train in the first half of my journey to SnowGlobe, I have taken this opportunity to reflect a bit deeper on how cool my Christmas Eve really was.

I was invited by my homie, Tarik, to his lil bros 21st birthday party on the top floor of the Shangri-LA hotel in Santa Monica. Nonchalantly, while we're spinnin late night within the first few hours of bein back in the backyard, he goes to me "Ya, dude, so you should totally cruise to Seraj (his bro) 's birthday. We can spin a set, and then Nero's gonna come n close out the night." "Uhhh, yeeeaah!" I reply; and, there you have it, my Christmas Eve 2011.

Alright, enough backstory. So, of course, there was a slight panic when Joe (1 of 2 members in Nero) did not arrive on time. "He's not coming" yada yada, but then Nero is in the house, and on the decks in no time. Thumbdrives meet Pioneer 2000's, and boom, the ride begins.

He kicks it off with some nice n funky house and electro; some off of their new album "Welcome Reality". Got the people movin, then, after waitin a lil while, he fades in the intro of "Bass Cannon" by Flux Pavilion. He finally gave us exactly what we came for, some heavy dubstep! Although, the sound was only bein pumped through one JBL speaker with maaybe 300w haha - but, it was a great show nonetheless.

Sickest part...
Joe from Nero & Rusko -  Taken @ Shangri-LA by yours truly ; )
Yep, Rusko decided to attend the lil soiree. Jus chillin n rappin with Joe super casually. It was hilarious. Enjoyin the party just like we all were, except all eyes were on them. Rusko didn't even jump on the decks, sure he reached over and added a thing here n there, but was mostly just kickin back.

I had alotta trouble finding a track off Nero's Soundcloud that I wanted to post, especially since I know how much we ALL just love free downloads, BUT, I did find a gross remix of Nero's "Crush on You" by Matta, so check that below.

Also, you will find a video that I took from the party.

They just played at Ruby Skye in SF on Thursday, I'm sure it was outta control. Prolly like the vid below, but way crazier haha

Ok, I'm off. Enjoy friends! Got lots on new footage from SnowGlobe. One more night to go! Thanks 2011, it's been good. Farewell, and welcome 2012!

Be safe tonight, and Have a HappyAss New Years!

Le Castle Vania's New Energetic Remix

Le Castle Vania is seriously awesome! He just threw down another energetic banger. This time he went with remixing Kaskade's - "Turn it Down." Le Castle Vania's a really talented producer, hes been growing like crazy on the scene over the last year. I got a chance to see him over at Identity Festival, which I might add was insanely sick set, he just knows how to move a crowd. Take a listen to this new remix and if you feel like supporting, it's also available on iTunes and Beatport.

If you dont know who he is, its about time you find out. Stratus is pretty new on the scene, coming from Chicago, but dont be fooled, he's already played some pretty epic shows alongside some top artists like Doctor P, Flux Pavilion, Skream, Benga, Big Gigantic, and more. Keep an eye out for this kid, hes about to blow up!  Check out his new track, "Them Raptors." It's a Baangger!

A Night in LA with Chuckie

In LA for the holidays, vistin fam n such, and I hear from some friends that Chuckie is spinnin at Supper Club LA, so I obviously go. I had just recently came across Chuckie's "Who's Ready to Jump", although he has been on the scene since 2007 at least, and now have yet another DJ on the priority list to keep up on. Also, check out the remixes by Dillon Francis, Dada Life, and many more on Beatport.

This dirty dutchman brings that electro sound consistent with the likes of the popular eye - along side the Dubstep craze, this Moombahton / ElectroStep / Complextro, or whatever you would like to call it,  has been blowing up in the recent, and even though his sound is more of a hard electro sound (ya know, not so OCD with the sampling), Chuckie seems to fall right in with the like.

The set was a great ride - heavy grooves and alotta bass - he definitely had the whole club goin nuts til the very end. I would definitely recommend checkin him out the next chance you get.

His SoundCloud is full of sick tracks and free downloads, so be sure to check that. Below is the newest track he posted, also on free download. Party Hard ; )

BANGARANG Skrillex!

Another DJ who needs no introduction, Skrillex has just released a new EP exclusive on Beatport. Sampling Sirah, The Doors, Ellie Goulding, and collaborating with Wolfgang Gartner, Kill the Noise, and 12th Planet - thanks to Big Beat Records, we are exposed to "Bangarang", which features 7 tracks filled to the brim with those traditional Skrillex sounds that drives us oh so crazy.

You gotta check out this EP, it's just nonstop heaviness all rolled into about 30 mins of nasty.

Also, ElectroShok Records just released a free download of Skrillex - Breathe (Michael White remix), which is also super heavy, but for some reason, they have not allowed sharing, so click here for your download ; )

I feel too weird posting and not having any music in here, so I also included some tracks below for your listening pleasure. Enjoy!

Now, I'm off to Hollywood to see Chuckie at Supper Club LA. I'm sure I'll be writin about that tomorrow lol.

Until next time...

Grime Time wit Excision - Straight from Shambhala

If you've been followin the Dubstep scene these past few years, then this DJ should be no stranger to you. British Columbian Jeff Abel, or Excision as we better know him, has been bringin that grime since '07, and my how he has evolved since. No telling, the guy has been doin great things since the beginning, but to date, he has accomplished way more than just being a dubstep DJ who comes in heavy doses of dirt.

Abel created Rottun Recordings (check out All Releases by Rottun Recordings), which has dropped tracks from numerous artists - like Datsik, Downlink, Mark Instinct, Vaski, Torqux& Twist, Antiserum, Liquid Stranger, and many more - providing our ears with more a that grime we just love so damn much.

Pulled from his Wikipedia, the signature sound of Excision "takes the influence from the morphing basslines of drum and bass, the aggressive energy of heavy metal, and the laid back vibes of hip hop", and that ain't no lie.

Venturing beyond Rottun, he just recently released a new album, X-Rated, with the mau5trap, which actually sounds like a damn good idea considering all the hype that currently surrounds Deadmau5, and the rest of the trap. Just like his other tracks, this album packs some serious heat; definitely would recommend givin it a listen if you feel like melting your face.

Speakin of melting faces, and yet another reason why you're readin about this Canadian badboy, starting in 2008, Excision futher established himself on the scene by releasing free mixes of his sets at Shambala Festival, and the style is no different from his 'sound' described above – intricate and fuckin HEAVY!

Now, another year is pretty much behind us, which means… Another heavy mix from Excision at Shambhala! This year’s epic one is filled with over 70 mins of straight grime from start to finish, and can be found on his FaceBook as a free download - all ya gotta do is push that lil 'Like' button, and it's yours.

Doo it, and don’t worry about thankin me later.

Hope you can cop this one before your holiday travels, so you can check it while in a train, plane, automobile, or my favorite method, while waiting for a delayed flight, like me right now haha   I will say, this mix is definitely makin the time fly.

Below are some of his other tunes as well... Be sure to check his SoundCloud for some other free goodies.

Ok, no more talkie. Safe travels, Enjoy, and have a Happy Holidays : )

Small Time SIMBA Drops Big Time "Overkill"

Recently, I have been on the hunt for more Complextro & ElectroStep, if you will, to all the likes of Porter Robinson, Zedd, Peep'N Tom, etc. I've made Pandora Radio Stations for Zedd, Porter R., Wolfgang Gartner and Mord Fustang, and, with the exception of Wolfgang, all the stations, at one point or another, begin to just repeat the same tracks over and over and over again. Really disheartening when looking for new artists and tracks.

After doing a random search for "New Complextro" in YouTube, I came across SIMBA's "Overkill", which is, no doubt, more of what I have been looking for.

This DJ, hailing out of Des Moines, IO, currently has only 506 likes on Facebook, but I foresee that changing soon, as long as he keeps putting out tracks like this and finds some success in his promotions. I mean, as a 14 year old (Yep, I said it. 14?!) and where he's at right now, I think he'll be just fine, especially now that he is shackin up in Vegas - I'm sure we'll see him startin out in the local club scene, then expand outwards. Wouldn't be surprised if we see him on the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) line up sooner than later.

Hopefully, we'll be seeing more of this DJ's goodies to come... Until then, enjoy yourself summa SIMBA's "Overkill"

Numbernin6, Torqux & Twist Turn Us All Into Sentients

Now, I've heard a bit about these 3 UK badboys here and there. More so of Numbernin6, hard to miss bangers like "Garbage"(Music Video!) or his remix of "Breathe", originally by The Prodigy. Like Numbernin6, the Torqux & Twist duo have brought some heavy heavy bizness - like "Heavy Rain", "Obliviate", and "H.E.L.L." - and right about now, I'm feelin pretty re-diclious for not keepin up on all 3 of dirty DJs.

Always been a fan of different artists doin collabos - Rusko & Caspa, Excision & Datsik, Flux Pavilion & Doctor P - and these guys bring it the same way... HARD.

From this collabo, we've been delivered "Sentient", and it's a grimy one for sure. Kinda feel like it should be over a fight scene from RoboCop or Transformers.. Anyone with me?

Either way, here you go... Numbernin6 and Torqux & Twist with "Sentient"

... Aaand a grip of other tracks too ; )

Also, a playlist from Torqux & Twist along with some from Torqux alone...

Oh yeah, and freebies from both...

Hope that was enough music for you all haha

Be sure to show your love for these guys, if you prefer of course.

Skrillex Christmas Lights be Shining Hard

I know we've been seeing these Christmas lights videos for years on YouTube, but this is the first time we get some EDM in the mix. Check out our compilation of Skrillex Christmas lights.

And then.... The explanation ... If house #1 surprised you, well listen to this British fellow give you a walk through, Pimp My Ride status.

Dillon Francis is the Bruce Wayne of Electro

Just look at him! He's got the look, same ass hair, and style of Bruce Wayne; not to mention his badassness (word?). Seriously though, you gotta love this guy. Ever since he came from under Diplo's wing onto the scene, hes been slappin' us with some great tracks.

Watch the video below to his track - "I.D.G.A.F.O.S." Surprisingly, Dillon Francis is hilarious. Halfway through the video he brings a full ham on stage and says, "hey crowd, this ham, is for you!!" and, as expected, they all go nuts. I know, this vid isn't the newest on youtube, but all in all its a must see that tons of you missed.

PS: Cameos from Skrillex and 12th Planet

Zedd Pulls a "Scorpion Move"

With a title like that, kinda makes me wanna shout "Get oooooover here!" haha  but that's neither here, nor there...

Yep, Zedd's back again! This 22 year old German out of Kaiserslautern (Badass.) has definitely been causin some ruckus on the scene recently. First track I heard from this gent was his remix of Skrillex's "Scary Monsters & Nice Sprites", which hit #2 on Beatport's Top 10 Electro Chart, and, undoubtedly, I was ready for more...

Since entering the scene around 2009, he has remixed many other big name DJs - such as Fatboy Slim, Wolfgang Gartner, Armand van Helden, Swedish House Mafia, even Black Eyed Peas and Diddy - and all with massive success. Love his remix of "Nasty", originally by Eric Decks.

The man has got this electro thing down. Scrolling back to his earlier tracks, you can still hear the dirt, but seeing how he has evolved as a producer, I think this kid has only begun. Even his originals are fire. He breached the scene with "Anthem" in early 2010, reserving himself a seat in Beatport's Top 20 Electro Chart, and has not let up since. More recently, he brought us "Shave It" which, like most dirty tracks, came with some remixes from some other greats, like 501 and Kaskade, as well as "Stars Come Out" released on Steve Aoki's label, Dim Mak.

Now, he has hit us again with another baadboy. About a month ago, Zedd posted "Scorpion Move" on his SoundCloud, and it is raw.. and free ; )  You can download it from the window below obviously, but I would also recommend checking out his SoundCloud or just pickin up his tracks on Beatport, cuz they're fully worth the listen, and the purchase for that matter.

Here you are, new from Zedd...

New Mord Fustang Track

Check out this new Mord Fustang track - "We Are Now connected." Just hit Soundcloud about 30 minutes ago. This one is a club banger, I just love his housey style, but he still slaps you around a little.

Flinch Sets our Speakers on Fire

If you dont know who Flinch is, time to get on it. This guy kills it on a reg with his deep basslines. For the handful of you that consider themselves closet metalheads, like me, this is the perfect track for you. It gives you that perfect amount of slap, you get that hardcore vox sample as the pre chorus breakdown, and just all around well produced. Flinch definitely knows what hes doing. That female vocal sample is so damn catchy too.

Check out Flinch on Facebook

Again. well done. Take a listen and let us know what you think.

Alesso Remix aka More from Peep'N Tom!

Released just this past Thursday, Peep'N Tom has hit us again with some more madness. Without fail, he definitely brings more of that nasty sound that he has clearly coined throughout his tracks. This DJ is on a roll. Hopefully, we'll start seeing alot more of him in the future. I'm talkin top chart singles and massive tours.

With his new remix of Alesso's "Raise Your Head", it is clear that he is right up there with the Porter Robinson's, Zedd's, and the like, but I guess you'll just have to give it a listen yourself, and don't forget to download it too, cuz it's freee. Just push that there BUY button, and you'll be on your way.

Enjoy the rest of your weekends, ladies and gents. Au revoir for now.

Sub Focus Strikes Again!

Sub Focus (Nick Douwma) is no stranger to the Drum N' Bass & Dubstep scene. Making his name in 2003 with DnB then later incorporating Dubstep, he's brought us shear craziness track after track, from Scarecrow to Timewarp to Rusko's "Hold On (Sub Focus Remix)" to now with his newest, Falling Down (below).

Jumpin back to his earliest works, like Down the Drain or Sound Guy, you can really hear that Dubstep brewing in those basslines - that was the element of this newer genre that really caught my ear; all those nasty sounds I heard in when listening to DnB in the wake of my electronic upbringing.

I've heard his tracks dropped in the live sets of many big time DJs in the game right now - Andy C, DJ Hype and many more - and, listening to his tracks, you'll definitely hear why. Oh, and if you haven't heard it yet, pull yourself together and check out his last album, Sub Focus (2009), cuz that entire album is gold.

So, here you are... More from Sub Focus..

To conclude, some live footage from Ultra Music Festival - Thanks to FreeCanadianSoul for the vid.. Gets a lil squirrelly towards the end, but for obvious reasons : P

Lana Del Rey Dubstepped - No Surprise here , Sick Song

Lana Del Rey has one of those voices that makes electro producers jizz their pants. Seriously, and not just cuz she's hot, she's got that indieish voice, but kind of poppy and Adele-like; Perfect for electro. Here we are, presented with a new track on UKF Dubstep, Lana Del Rey's - "Born to Die" remixed by Gemini. This is a have to check out track, its not super hard, but gives you that bass you need to really give it that umph. Check it out and show some support to UKF Dubstep.

Keepin Breaks Alive with Access Denied

Hailing out of Russia, Andrey Kulik, aka Access Denied, has been on the scene since 2003, and still goin strong today. His "Black and Red" EP, released in October, has been echoing throughout the Breaks Top 10 on Beatport.

About a month ago, he dropped a remix of Buzzwak's "Mumbling Music" which has been sittin comfortably in the #1 seat on Beatport's Breaks Top 10 Chart since yesterday.

Definitely worth keepin an eye on this one, he brings alotta heat and his style parallels the current snowballing demand for heavy bass, energy, and lots of sampling.

Somethin I pulled from his Facebook page:

"The Access Denied show is something more than just a DJ set. It is a fascinating live act with a usage of various sound-processing, effectors, samplers and some extra musical equipment. The Access Denied Project never gets caught in an endless loop of particular music style"

And I would not oppose...

After checkin out his SoundCloud, I found all kinds of examples that validate that quote. When browsin through some photos of the artist, I saw midi keyboards, MPC controllers, and CDDJs in front of him at various times. Check it out for yourself! He's got a fine amount of other dirty original tracks, remixes, and, you guessed it, free downloads!

It's goood. Git em.

Preview of that Bad Boy on the Top of the Chart right now...

And we'll conclude with his newest release on free download.. Be sure to get this one.

DJ Fresh - Hot Right Now Ft. Rita Ora (Zomboy Remix)

I love this track! UKF has been releasing some super sick tracks lately. So it starts off totally not my style with the diva deep soulful vocals, but then boom... possibly one of the most unique dubstep breakdowns I've heard lately. Check it out!

Event Posts in the Works... Plus SnowGlobe Schedule & Swedish House Mafia LIVE RIGHT NOW!

Wassup everybody. As you might have noticed by now, we added a tab strip on the homepage for your browsing pleasure. Might be NBD right now, but a bit down the line... You'll prolly thank us   ; )

Soon to come will be posts featuring events that the ES team check out. We will hopefully be hitting many shows and sharing them with you. Hopefully, you'll jus be there too.

First to come, unless I hit up somethin else before hand, will be SnowGlobe in Tahoe for NYE. No question, it's gonna be a great festie; tons of great artists and it's in the snow. Can't wait.

In case you're curious, they put up the daily schedule a bit ago.

Gonna be a great way to celebrate the new year.

Speaking of events, I was just checkin out a track on YouTube, and a lil bar popped up on the top saying "Watch Now: Swedish House Mafia (Live) at Madison Square Garden" (Unfortunately, the live link is no more, this will now take you to their website - gonna try and get some footage to post up later). So, I obviously click on it, and I would have to say, I hope you are either there yourself right now or watching this too. Thank you FuseTV! They're droppin it haard, sick production, huge venue. Jealous. I feel silly writing this right now instead of watching, but at least I can hear it haha

I'm out. Have a good weekend everyone.

AOKI Collab Brings Us Some Filth

Steve Aoki is one of those guys consistently on his game, coming up with the newest hottest sounds in his genres, and literally stays on the Beatport top 100. Today, Dim Mak's presented us with his latest track, "Ladi Dadi," and for the first ever, we've got some dubstep out of Aoki. This time, he's teamed up with Wynter Gordon, bringing those great Beyonce-like female diva vocals to an already jumpy track, then adding on some Skrillexy breakdowns. What I really liked is that throughout the breakdown Aoki still stayed true to his style and somehow managed to maintain a solid beat then finishing the breakdown with a house like drumbeat; classic Aoki. Dubstep is sooo not Aoki's game, giving us great respect for him and his efforts to step out of the box from his regular sounds. In my opinion, we'll be seeing more producers step into the dubstep realm, theres a huge fan base, it's a new change from the same ol' 4 on the floor beat, and its exploring a whole new dimension of electro. Kudos to you Aoki for pulling it off flawlessly. Hope to see more tracks like this in the future! We love bass.

"100% No Modern Talking" - Finally! More from Knife Party

I remember when I first heard about these dirty gents. Wasn't too long ago, maybe a few months, my buddy drops the "Dude, have you heard of Knife Party? It's two of the guys from Pendulum..."I lost it. Pretty sure I pulled my phone out right there, threw in an earbud and YouTube'd whatever I could find.

No originals found, but I DID find these: Swedish House Mafia "Save the World (KP remix)" - Nero "Crush on You (KP remix)" - and even a collabo with Skrillex to create the beast better known as "Zoology". Then, when Porter Robinson quaked the scene with "Spitfire", it was accompanied by two ridiculous remixes; one, the album-titled banger "Spitfire" by Kill the Noise, which is insane, couldn't talk about Porter remixes without the mention, and, of course, Knife Party's twist on "Unison". This Australian duo really has been bringin the heat.

Now... The originals have arrived! "100% No Modern Talking", with the heat comin large doses. This 4-track EP, brought to us by Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen, packs a ton of punch, and definitely leaves me wanting more. Apparently, there are other tracks floating around as well, but the guys didn't want to release them; either saving them for their live sets or throwin them on the backburner, for now. According to the duo, there could be a remix EP comin a bit down the line. Hope so, and I sure hope that 2012 will be bringing us a lil Knife Party tour, but back to this mighty fine EP.

Check it out in the playlist below, AND, be sure to hit up their Facebook or website to get the EP on Free Download! These guys sure do know how to please the crowd, all ya gotta do is sign up on their mailing list. NBD. Thanks, gents. Oh, before we get to the tracks, I saw this on their FB wall and just had to include it:

After 20,000 downloads since this morning, Facebook literally
'blocked us on Facebook'. Our download app is now back up and running.

Araabmuzik Plays Skrillex on MPC

Dubstep on the MPC? Yea I know, its awesome and in my opinion probably one of the most difficult ways of making dubstep.

Araabmuzik is so insane, this guy's been blowin' up on Youtube with all his MPC videos. Now he's already touring and apparently up to some super ridiculous tracks and of course, dubsteppin' on the MPC.

AMAZING. Take a look, you'll be impressed. He starts off with some Skrillex, then some Nero. I just imagine how much prep it took him to get this track going. Really really impressive stuff.

Make sure you check out his Facebook page, show this upcomer some love! Keep an eye out, hes getting huge!

Peep'N Tom Keeps it Complextro

I stumbled upon Peep'N Tom browsin around Beatport while grabbin some extra tracks to slump at Burning Man. I came across his remix of "Miles to Go" by Elan Myles, and I was fully into it. The track even hit #17 on Beatport'Electro House Top 100. He brings a seriously heavy electro sound, on the level of Porter Robinson, Wolfgang Gartner and the like, which is definitely a style I'm into these days.

After doin a lil diggin for more on this Dublin native, I found a genre subsect I have yet to hear, Complextro (More on this: Facebook | Soundcloud). I can get down with that, I mean, it makes sense after a listen. Multiple sounds and samples, heavy bass, etc.. I guess I always just called it Electrostep. Potato, Potahto.

Today, I was searchin around, and got my ears on his remix of "Disco Love" by Hypster & Clover Ray. I'm not too fond of the sample, but that's just me, and I'm sure I'll warm up to it eventually. Nonetheless, this track is no different than the last. Heavy. He really has crafted some great sounds that he incorporates throughout his tracks. No complaints here. Those sounds are nasty.

Check it out for yourselves:

Playlist of his fine works...

Also, check out the man's SoundCloud for some free downloads.

I already got my eye out for more stuff, and I will actually be leavin you all with a clip of his latest release. Too bad it's only 0:52 seconds, either way, my mouth is waterin for the full version.

Au revior, for now.

Bassnectar Just Can't Stop - Plus, A Live Vid from Camp Bisco X & SNOW GLOBE NYE !

Bassnectar has been on the scene for a while now. No doubt, he's been turnin' heads time after time; incorporating unique samples, diversifying BPMs, and of course, makin that bass purrrr. He's great live, tons of energy, knows how to play for a crowd, and seein him rock tha eff out with all that hair just makes me go nuts... You too? Sweet.

I caught him at Outsidelands last year, and, as he begins, I remember him sayin somethin like "I know it's early, but I'm just gonna spin like it's midnight". Loved it. We went nuts, he went nuts "no one can touch what the king dreamed up" (Teleport Massive 2009 + Remixes in 2010) AND, it was in Golden Gate Park which just makes it all the better, so yeah, great show.

More recently, I saw him at Fox Theater in Oakland with Wolfgang Gartner, which was out of control. I was really stoked to see Wolfgang, having never seen him before. He threw it down for sure, but Bassnectar really just tore the roof off debuting his latest from Divergent Spectrum (2011), released in August. He is definitely remaining consistent with his style, droppin all kinds of breaks and almost DnB-esque beats, had us all jumpin and screamin for more.

Here's one of my faves off his new release. He mixes it up with Gogol Bordello to provide us with this gold!

And an album preview...

Check out the rest of his Soundcloud too. He's got a bunch of free downloads and fresh mixes.

I'll be seeing him again at Snow Globe Music Festival on NYE weekend, and I CAN'T WAIT! I would highly suggest, if you are in the bay area or can get here, to GO haha  It's gonna be crazy! Prolly something like this...

It's a lengthy vid, but a goodie. Immigraniada comes in at about 5mins in case you're feelin impatient ; )
